Enjoying the beauty of a beach sunrise, to many, is one of life's greatest treasures.
As a family beach photographer in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area, I offer photography sessions on the beach at both sunrise and sunset. The lighting conditions on the beach either within an hour of the sun rising or an hour of the sun setting is the best for making beautiful images. Some refer to these wonderful fleeting hours of the day as "golden hour" or "magic hour." These are the times of day when sunlight is just the most wonderful to look at- the way it dances and plays as it illuminates everyone and everything. Photographing at these times also makes it easier to capture more detail in the sky such as colors and clouds. You don't see all of that when the sun is stronger overhead.
I often get clients asking me to help them decide if sunrise or sunset time is best for them because they love the beach so much that they can't decide. My response is usually to ask them a few questions before I make a recommendation. Here you can read my thoughts on why choosing sunrise might be a great fit for you and your family.
Top 5 Reasons to Choose Sunrise for Your Family Beach Photography Session:
1. Less People on the beach.
Take advantage of the one time of day when the beach is the least crowded. It's heavenly to have all of that open space to wonder and play and capture beautiful pictures.
2. Sunrise can be a better time of day for children.
Babies and toddlers tend to be at their best first thing in the morning as opposed to the end of the day. This makes sunrise sessions more appealing for young families.
3. Mission accomplished early and the rest of the day is free!
This really applies if you are on vacation. You want to soak up as much relaxation and fun time while here. If you schedule your portrait session for sunrise, you still have the entire day left for all the things you want to do.
4. Capturing the sun coming up over the ocean in the background! Since we are on the East Coast, we only get to see the sun over the water at sunrise!
Although we still get wonderful colors and glow over the water during sunset, the two times of day are very different.
5. Experience something New!
Maybe you aren't usually a morning person or maybe you wish you would make it a point to get outside early in the day but never seem to. Scheduling your session for sunrise might be a terrific new experience and will make it even more memorable. New adventures are the best!
