Planning your fabulous Myrtle Beach area Wedding? We know it can be tough planning everything from the type of hair you want on your Wedding day to your reception table decor and party favors. We recently invited some local Myrtle Beach Wedding vendors to be guest bloggers and share their professional insight to brides and couples who are planning their coastal wedding in South Carolina.
First up we have Andrea King of Bobby Pins and Blushing Brides:
Hi! My name is Andrea, and I am the owner of Bobby Pins and Blushing Brides. I have over 12 years of experience and specialize in bridal hair and makeup. It has been a passion of mine since the very beginning of my journey into cosmetology! I find it incredibly rewarding and such an honor to be a part of a bride’s big day and it is my goal to make her feel her absolute best. I absolutely love what I do and there is no greater pleasure than to see my brides feeling and looking their best on one of the biggest days of their lives!
Deciding on what you would like for hair and makeup, for such an important event, can be a little overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be!
First, find your inspiration! Collect pictures of hair and makeup ideas that you are interested in.
Look for pictures that best resemble your face shape, hair texture and skin type, as they are
more likely to be flattering and give you the best look.
After collecting pictures and ideas, bring them to your stylist for a trial run, which is highly
recommended! A trial run is important, so you and your stylist can decide what look would be
best, as well as getting an actual visual of your ideas in real time. No one wants to find out the
day of their wedding, that the look they chose, was not really a good fit after all. Use this time
with your stylist to make adjustments as needed, and to find a look that you will love and feel
comfortable in! A trial run will not only help your wedding day go smoothly; it is also a great time
to get to know your stylist!
Hair Tips:
*Determine your hair type. Texture, volume, and length are all factors in picking a hairstyle. If
needed, extensions can always be added to help give you a desired look, by adding to the
texture, volume, and length.
*Environment. If you are getting married during warmer weather or on the beach, consider
picking a style that will not be affected by the conditions. For example, the beach is windy, so
consider wearing your hair up or away from your face. Humidity also plays a part in warmer
weather and can make your hair frizz. Your stylist should have special products on hand when
styling for these conditions.
*What's the condition of your hair? Are you thinking of coloring your hair? A haircut?
When your hair is healthy and in good condition, it makes styling easier and helps keep it
looking fresh! If you choose to color your hair, and want it to look fresh, but a
little lived in, it is best to have your color done or touched up 2 weeks before your wedding.
Makeup Tips:
*Airbrush foundation vs. traditional foundation. Both should be a matte finish paired with a primer. Matte finish will help your face have movement, but also give you long wear. Your stylist can help pick which foundation will be best for your situation and your skin type.
*If you are more of the emotional type, the humidity is high or you’re having a beach wedding, make sure it is waterproof, smudge proof and/or water resistant. Airbrush is typically the go-to, to help keep your make-up in place!
*False eyelashes! Don’t underestimate what a pair of false lashes can do! Even a simple pair can add a bit of glamour, as well as finish off the look to make your eyes stand out.
*Lipstick. If you're not used to wearing one, keep it simple! Pick a shade that will compliment your natural lip color which will help polish off your look! Another reason to keep your lip color simple: Bold eyes. If you have a bold eye, it is best to keep your lips simple! Also, using lip stain will give your lips long wear with minimal touch ups.
Your wedding day doesn’t have to be stressful. Planning and preparing ahead of time, alongside your stylist, can not only be a wonderful way to stay ahead of the game, but lets you look your absolute best on your special day!
