We are delighted to share this gorgeous maternity session photographed October 2019 in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Our client Bethany traveled from West Virginia to South Carolina to work with us after many years of having us as her family photographer. We were very honored to capture the excitement and anticipation for her and her fiance Hunter and are delighted with how their images turned out. They have since welcomed and fallen in love with their first child who happens to be an adorable little guy name Huxley. We can't wait to travel to WV this year to work with them again for their Wedding.
Maternity Portrait Session Tips:
Timing
Getting amazing maternity portraits requires perfect timing. You want a big belly, but you don’t want to feel too miserable to move around comfortably. The best time to have your maternity portraits completed is around 7-8 months. This should also be a safe time in case of early delivery.
Location
The ideal shooting location needs to be simple, so that all the focus is on the expectant mother. We love to shoot at the beach or somewhere with beautiful landscaping, trees and water. There is something stunning about a mother to be in nature. Being photographed at your home inside your nursery (if you have one set up already) is also a terrific and more personal option.
Clothing
There are many companies out there today who specialize in beautiful maternity gowns designed specifically for these types of portraits. We always recommend to bring at least two outfits. As for colors, soft or pastel colors work really well in maternity photos, but it depends on your background and personal style as well.
Who to Include in Maternity Shots
Besides getting some “just mom” photographs, it's wonderful to include the dad-to-be or siblings who are equally excited to meet their new family member!
Why to Invest in Maternity Portraits
A few reasons to have them done: Celebrate your pregnancy. Many women feel their best during pregnancy yet others struggle with feeling not so great. A professional photography session will make you feel beautiful and will be a forever keepsake of this time in your motherhood journey. It's a great way to honor the base of your family or document it's growth if this isn't your first child. Capture the excitement and anticipation of this amazing time. A maternity session can also be a great way to reveal your baby's gender. To create beautiful family art for your walls that will be a constant reminder of your love for your child or children.
